In the Beginning…

Posted on September 2, 2011September 4, 2022 By Admini No Comments on In the Beginning…

Humanity had to work and labor hard to be able to survive. As time went on we came out of the deserts, woods, valleys, and even mountains to forge communities. These communities provided us with breaks as we worked instead of as individuals but as teams, forging the future and providing time for entertainment. As eons pass, we came to the modern day but we have not forgotten the physical labors or the desire to enjoy our leisure with games. But instead have created artwork, which in turn begot still images flashing on a screen becoming moving pictures, and eventually they became what we call movies.

I know, though it is not a new release, I feel it is rather fitting for our new additional branch for the site. I offer a perspective unique to what we do here, by reintroducing you to the movie, “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.”

This classic video game had a fairly devout following, which lead to a mixture of opinions upon release for how this movie was portraying the story of the game. Responces varied from “they deviated too far for the sake of a romantic story line” to others proclaiming they felt it gave it more “life.” But what I was amazed to hear was so little about the little boy in the beginning that had everyone on the edge of their seats as he continued to leap from building to building evading the city guards.

For some communities this was nothing new, the parkour movement was starting to make its face known among many of the more major cities across the globe. But be it as it may, I feel many people wrote this child actor off as just a stunt double who was using “movie magic” to create the appearance of intense theatrical suspense for the story line and nothing more.

Video about making the movie

Speaking as a very active child who constantly did acrobatics (untrained and constantly reminded of this by my mother) in the house around glass and various other dangerous objects, I have a high respect for anyone who has taken on this skill as a life time role or even just as a hobby.

“Prince of Persia” is riddled with events, that although they would have occurred in times more easily associated with these early communities that we came from, practitioners of an ancient form of, or similar to that of parkor, might have successfully been able to do many of these amazing feats as they are depicted in the movie. One can only imagine if these were the skills that might have been protected secrets of ancient assassins and high ranking thieves of times long past.

We will never know if that was the case, but one thing I can see for the future, is that those with these amazing skills, will continue to provide our entertainment community the skills and mind bending ideas of how to move and create movies in new and fantastic ways.
